About Halo Heuristic

A faith-rooted space helping churches think wisely about technology and AI.

We are a free resource hub rooted in historic Christian teaching, designed to be practical for everyday ministry. Whether you are a pastor, volunteer, or parent, we help you navigate the digital age with biblical clarity.

Our Mission

Technology is moving faster than ever. For pastors and ministry leaders, the rise of AI brings valid questions: Is this safe? Is this ethical? Does this honor God?

We believe the Church should not retreat from these tools, nor should we adopt them blindly.

Halo Heuristic is a research collective dedicated to vetting tools, creating policy frameworks, and exploring the theology of technology so that you can lead your congregation with confidence.

Christian Technologist & Digital Steward

Justin is a Christian technologist, writer, and digital steward with over 15 years of experience in website development and copywriting. He works at the intersection of faith, technology, and formation—helping churches think carefully about how their tools shape their people.

Based in the United States, Justin writes as someone who loves the local church and is deeply concerned with protecting pastoral trust, human dignity, and faithful discipleship in a digital age. He believes technology is never spiritually neutral. While digital tools can serve the Church well, they also carry hidden risks for privacy, authority, and discipleship.

Halo Heuristic exists out of a conviction that the Church should not react to technology in fear—or adopt it uncritically—but steward it faithfully, always placing formation before efficiency.

Why We Exist

In the last decade, the landscape of discipleship has shifted dramatically. The rise of AI, algorithms, and immersive online platforms is not just changing how we work, but how we think, relate, and worship. Pastors and ministry leaders today feel a distinct tension: the exciting opportunity to reach more people through technology, balanced against the very real risks of privacy, distraction, and the erosion of embodied community.

Too often, the guidance available is either purely secular—ignoring the spiritual dimension—or overly technical, leaving church leaders overwhelmed. Halo Heuristic was created to bridge this gap. Our mission is to equip the Body of Christ with trusted, accessible, and non-technical guidance for ethical tech and AI use.

“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”
— 1 Corinthians 10:31

Our Core Commitments

đź“– Biblical Discernment

Scripture is our primary lens. We do not view technology as neutral, but as a power that requires active discernment. We refuse to conform to the patterns of the digital world, but seek to be transformed by the renewal of our minds.

Ref: Romans 12:2
👤 Human Dignity & Imago Dei

We prioritize people over products. In an age of data mining, we uphold the truth that every person is created in the image of God. Technology must serve human flourishing, never reducing congregants to mere data points.

Ref: Genesis 1:27
🔎 Transparency & Integrity

We speak in plain language and operate with honesty. As a free resource supported by affiliate links, we pledge full disclosure and never recommend a tool that compromises pastoral integrity or Christian digital ethics.

🤝 Accessibility for Every Church

Whether you are a rural congregation with one laptop or a multi-site church with a full media team, our resources are free and written in everyday language to ensure church tech discernment is accessible to all.
